There’s no doubt that 2018 will see the continual rise in cosmedic procedures as our celebrity culture and selfie society act as drivers for continued growth.

With a greater diversity of treatments and products on offer for both the face and body than ever before, and a market that includes millennials to baby boomers and the generations in between, it’s worth keeping up with what’s available.
Here the founders of the renowned Harley Street Skin Clinic – Lesley Reynolds and Dr Aamer Khan, take a look at what’s trending in 2018.
Dr Khan has dedicated the past 15 years to perfecting anti-ageing skin treatments. Renowned for his finely-tuned aesthetic eye and his subtle approach to cosmetic enhancement, Dr Khan specialises in ground breaking non-invasive treatments helping thousands of men and women.
Dr Khan outlines his thoughts on the way the industry is changing: “There has been a shift over the recent years with people looking for plastic and cosmetic surgery that look more natural. They are looking for little adjustments, nips, and tucks. Nowadays, men and women want maximum results with the minimum recovery time. For almost every surgical procedure, there is now a non-invasive option which means, no downtime, minimal discomfort and a much speedier recovery.”
His wife Lesley, the successful author of the bestselling ‘Look Younger for Longer’ and a regular guest on This Morning and Lorraine, has been a tour de force in the skincare world for decades. Lesley trained and worked in the US, pioneering her own cosmeceutical skincare products.
So if you are looking to create a ‘new’ you, but are not quite sure how to do it, maybe these cosmetic predictions for 2018 will inspire you:
- Removal of facial and body hair
Using break-through technology, such as Lumecca, IPL, which stands for Intense Pulsed Light, is an effective and safe treatment for spots and skin irregularities. It is also a fast and safe solution for the removal of embarrassing facial and body hair. IPL works by emitting wave lengths of light into the skin which are then absorbed by the pigment in the hair, thereby killing the growing cells. IPL spells an end to regular and time-consuming shaving, waxing and bleaching.
- Anti-Pollution Skincare
There are a number of factors which can have a detrimental effect on our skin, from UV rays to a bad diet. Pollution tops the list when it comes to those who live in cities. From dehydration, increased sensitivities to wrinkles and redness, to sagging and a lack of firmness, air pollution isn’t just damaging our health. It makes us look years older, too. Look for specialist skincare ranges like Rosina’s Lotions and Potions which have been developed with this specifically in mind.
- The PDO Face Lift
If you are concerned about facial ageing, loose or sagging skin but are apprehensive about a surgical facelift, there is an alternative non-surgical procedure – the PDO Face Lift which is increasingly popular. There are no cuts and no incisions, just injections for a tighter, fresh and more youthful look. The PDO thread lift uses specialised threads which are introduced with a very fine needle to lift the facial tissue and muscle and improve the texture of the skin. It gives a significant immediate lift, and as the sutures dissolve, they stimulate the natural production of elastin and collagen, giving tissues a youthful firmness, and the skin a rejuvenated glow and structure, reducing lines and wrinkles. The results can last from 18 months to more than two years.
- Combination Treatments
The trend for 2018 is towards combination anti-ageing facial treatments like injectable fillers, laser resurfacing and corrective skin care such as peels and microdermabrasion which diminish lines and wrinkles, restore volume to the cheeks, plump lips, and get rid of saggy jowls and double chins.
- Male cosmetic treatments
Men are now just as worried about their appearance as women and the rise in treatments catering specifically for men has risen dramatically in the past decade. ‘Moob’ jobs (male breast reduction), hair transplants, fillers, ‘bro’tox, blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) nose and chin jobs, and liposuction have all become very popular procedures. It is expected that 2018 will see more men becoming interested in surgical and non-surgical treatments.
- Multi-Purpose Products
Because we lead such busy lives, there’s a trend towards high performance, multi-purpose products such as such as the Monroe range for men which have anti-bacterial and anti-ageing properties.
- Fat grafting
New fat transfer techniques, also known as fat grafting, will continue to increase in popularity to augment body areas including the face, breasts, and buttocks. It involves harvesting fat cells from other parts of the body, purifying them, and then injecting them into the treatment site to increase the volume in areas such as the cheeks, lips, breasts and bottom.
